Week 2 Blog Prompt
Describe either the best or the worst teacher you’ve ever had during your career as a student. What was it about that individual’s teaching style that you liked/disliked? Try to relate this back to your own individual method of learning and writing. Were you compatible? Incompatible? Was he/she more or less relatable because of age? Culture? The way the classroom was set up? Try to think of specific assignments, lectures, class activities, etc. that caused you to form the opinion you did.

ReplyDeleteI had an amazing teacher named Joseph Dietrich. He was an English and Creative Writing teacher, who also had guest appearances in Senior Seminar (World religions). He has truly had a lifetime of amazing experiences, he's traveled around the world, met many people, done crazy things and then came to Christianity, actively sharing stories about Christ's power in his life. His teaching style is discussion or lecture (usually informal and some kind of combination of the two), which I love because I'm an auditory learner. He takes a lot of time to purposefully and deliberately plan out his stories, making them full of meaning and insight, which I respect and at some point hope to achieve. His room is usually set up with tables in the shape of a three sided rectangle, the missing side has his chair in it, and that's where he teaches from. His assignments constantly challenged our creativity and ability to see past the obvious (stories about make believe creatures or essays on Hamlet)He is unbelievably kind, and willing to help students individually. I respect him more than almost anyone, he is a fantastic teacher and role model for me.
